Ula Cafe is hiring! 

Ula is more than just a cafe: we’ve been a community gathering place, a meetup spot, and a favorite breakfast and lunch destination for neighbors in JP and Roxbury for years. Job Description:

Ula is looking to add experienced bakers to join our kitchen team. Our ideal applicant loves good food and has a positive, fast-paced attitude and excellent teamwork skills. Some kitchen experience is a plus, though not necessary- we are happy to train anyone with the right attitude- as you will be responsible for proper setup and breakdown of the sandwich station, preparation of ingredients and proper cleanliness/sanitation throughout the kitchen. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation of fresh, creative and high-quality bakery items

  • Complete the daily bake in a neat and efficient manner.

  • Examples of daily tasks will be: cookie doughs, baking bars/treats, scones, quick breads, etc.

  • Assist Manager as needed (tasks may include inventory tracking, wholesale ordering, checking in orders as they arrive, putting away and organizing order deliveries, etc.). 

  • Ensure food is fresh and top-quality every day. 

  • Keep kitchen clean and orderly (this includes deep-cleaning tasks, and general personal cleanliness).

  • Work with counter staff to make sure the counter and refrigerated display cases are kept well-stocked.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 1-2 years kitchen experience

  • Food safety knowledge is a plus- but can be taught to the right candidate 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Available to work at least one weekend shift- FT or PT availability
