Open Mic Night - Be a Millionaire Edition

Tuesday, May 20, 2014 - 7:30pm to 10:00pm

Show us your songs, your poems, your stories, any performance in honor of Be a Millionaire Day. Are you a Have or a Have Not? Do you dream of life in the fast lane or just sittin' by the dock of the bay? Any light you can shed on lottery tickets, the 1%, or bills, bills, bills? We'd love to hear all about it. We'll be serving up Whoopie Pies and our surprise hit of last month's Open Mic, the French Quarter Soda (as well as a wealth of other snacks and treats)! Will this be loads of fun? Bank on it.

Mother's Day Card-Making Workshop

Thursday, May 8, 2014 - 4:00pm to 7:00pm

Show Mom you appreciate her with a handmade card! Bring your kids to Ula for a free craft party and leave with a special gift for Mom. We'll provide the art supplies, you bring the creativity.

Lines On the Line: An Airing Out of Poetry

Tuesday, April 29, 2014 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm

To celebrate National Poetry Month, we're filling both of our galleries with poetry, hanging clothesline style. Some brilliant (and mostly local) poets have some dirty laundry to air, and we're excited to hang it out for all to see! On the 29th, we're hosting a small reception where people can discuss the pieces with the poets themselves. Did a certain turn of phrase catch your eye? Did you find a particular image touching? Want to mention someone's unmentionables? April 29th is your chance to get up close and personal.

Open Mic Night - Earth Day Edition

Tuesday, April 22, 2014 - 7:30pm to 10:00pm

Game on! Don't miss the next Open Mic Night, which will boast more folksy, a capella, banjo-pickin', angsty, jubilant, storytelling jazz combos than any other cafe in Jamaica Plain. And as it happens to fall on Earth Day, we do request that all performers either be from this planet, or at least be able to fake it. We'll have our full menu available, as well as Open Mic-exclusive Whoopie Pies and French Quarter Soda!

BARPCV Reception

Wednesday, April 16, 2014 - 5:15pm to 7:00pm

Boston Area Returned Peace Corps Volunteers will be holding a small reception on Wednesday, April 16th, from 5:15-7pm. Their photo display is currently hanging above our laptop counter, so you can check it out anytime, and then learn more about BARPCV on Wednesday. See you there!
